Nowruz
∙ Nowruz in Uzbekistan is a holiday of spring, joy and goodness, which reminds of eternal values: respect for nature, family unity and the importance of harmony between people.
Today, Nowruz is celebrated across the country with a special vigour. In historical cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, colourful festivals are held with the participation of masters of folk art, musicians and craftsmen. Tourists visiting Uzbekistan at this time can not only enjoy the festive atmosphere, but also learn about the country’s rich traditions.

In Nowruz Program clients wait amazing spring festive atmosphere which they celebrate in Gijduvan, where tourists will have the unique opportunity to experience a traditional Uzbek celebration at a local home. A highlight of this experience will be the preparation of Sumalak, a traditional dish with roots dating back to Zoroastrian times. Guests will have the chance to observe this ancient culinary process, accompanied by live performances of national music played on instruments such as the Karnay and Surnay.

Additionally, tourists will witness the Uzbek wedding tradition of Kelin Salom, where a new bride, dressed in traditional national attire, greets guests with special songs. As part of the Sumalak cooking masterclass, the tour will also include demonstrations of the unique Uzbek traditions of O’sma Surma and Xina Surma, two distinctive forms of henna art that are deeply embedded in the country’s culture. Also, they wil be witness of Uzbek Poppet Show.
