We invite you to participate at our special tour and at the same time visit three countries with rich history and culture, that are: Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran. Each of these countries is well-known by its unique traditions of carpet-weaving, and there are workshops that still preserved the ancient style of hand-made weaving. “Carpet Tour along the Silk Road” gives a wonderful opportunity to watch the process of Uzbek, Turkmen and Persian carpets’ creation at legendary workshops of Bukhara, Ashgabat and Tehran. Besides, you will get acquainted with the professional secrets of famous masters of carpet-weaving and enjoy the production process of todays’ masterpieces.
End of May is the best period for organizing a tour when you have an opportunity to visit the only in the world unique Carpet Museum in Ashgabat, as well as to participate at annual festive Carpet Exhibition holding in Turkmenistan on the last Sunday of May and dedicated to Turkmen Carpet Day.

 

UZBEKISTAN

1

Day 1: Tashkent. Arrival

Flight to Tashkent. Arrival. Transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.

Day 2: Tashkent

 Minivan / Bus

City tour in Tashkent: visit to Hazrati Imam (Hast-Imam)Memorial Complex and Chorsu Bazaar situated at the old part of the city. You will also visit Museum of Applied Artswhere the collection of national carpets and suzane related to the beginning of 19th century is represented. Time to enjoy Tashkent Metro Ride at city center, walking tour along Amir Timur Square and Alisher Navoi Theatre Square.

Day 3: Tashkent – Samarkand

Minivan / Bus / Train/ High-speed train

Arrival. City Tour: Guri Emir, Registan Square, including Tillya-Kari, Sher Dor and Ulugbek Madrasahs.

Day 4: Samarkand

 Minivan / Bus

Continuation of the sightseeing tour: Bibi Khanum, local bazaar, Shakhi Zinda Necropolis. Visit to the silk carpet manufacture.

Day 5: Samarkand – Bukhara

 Minivan / Bus

On arrival to Bukhara sightseeing tour: Poyi Kalonarchitectural ensemble, visit to Coumpol bazaar (ancient trading domes) which displays various kinds of silk and woolen carpets.

Day 6: Bukhara

Visit to the Carpet Museum located on the territory of Magoki Attori  Mosque, Lyabi Hauz Complex. Evening Folklore Show in ancient Nadir Divan-Beghi Madrasah.

Day 7: Bukhara – Khiva

 Minivan / Bus

A long drive south-east to the most remote of Central Asia’s Silk Road city. En route viewing the desert and the Amu Darya River.

Day 8: Khiva

Sightseeing tour: Kunya Ark Fortress, Kalta MinorPokhlavan Makhmud Complex, Juma Mosque. Visit to the silk carpet workshop.

TURKMENISTAN

Day 9: Khiva – Dashoguz – Ashgabat

 Minivan / Bus / Flight

Visit to Kunya Urgench: Turabek Khanum mausoleum,Tekesh and Sultan Ali mausoleums, Kutlug Timur Minaret. Return to Dashouz. Flight to Ashgabat.

Day 10: Ashgabat

Sightseeing tour. Visit to Museum of Turkmen Carpets and Carpets exhibition. Folklore show and traditional dinner, followed by city-by-night tour.

Day 11: Ashgabat

Visit to Tolkuchka Bazar, National Museum of History and Ethnography, fortress of Old Nisa, the earliest of Parthian Empire capitals.

Day 12: Ashgabat – Mary – Merv

Flight to Mary. Sightseeing tour in Merv: Erk Kala, Gyaur Kala, Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum, Kiz Kala.

IRAN

Day 13: Mary – Sarakhs border – Mashhad

Arrival in Mashhad, one of the centers producing Persian carpets.

Day 14: Mashhad – Isfahan

Visit to the largest carpet museum in Middle East and a carpet factory. City Tour: Ferdowssi tomb and Goharshad mosque. Flight to Isfahan.

Day 15: Isfahan

Visit to carpet museum and carpet bazaar in Isfahan. City tour: Naghsh-e-Jahan Square, Alighapou Palace, Imam and Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, Chehel Sotoun Palace.

Day 16: Isfahan – Naein – Kashan

Visit to carpet shops in Naein. Drive to Kashan.

Day 17: Kashan – Tehran

Visit to small rug shops in Kashan, Bagh-e Fin gardenBorujerdis traditional house with its 40 meter tall wind towers. Transfer to Tehran.

Day 18: Tehran

Visit the carpet museum, Golestan Palace and Carpet Bazaar of Tehran.
